Material impact of
cold forming shipbuilding on steel panels

Cold forming comprises the application of rolling-stretching technology combined with bending. The stretching part is limited to a common 2-3 % along the elongation lines. The maximum stretch most steel panels can handle, before breaking, is up to 25 %. The affect of cold forming is a small reinforcement of the material as a result of the minor elongation.
